Intercultural Competence – Coaching

According to Dreyer, intercultural competence is based on three key dimensions: knowledge of one’s own and others’ cultural patterns, an open and empathetic attitude towards diversity, and the ability to act effectively in intercultural situations. This approach highlights how essential it is not only to understand behaviour, but also the underlying values and ways of thinking.

We provide professional support on your journey towards greater confidence, clarity and effectiveness in global work environments

Facilitating the Process

The deeper a transformation reaches into an organisation, the longer the period it requires and the more diverse the accompanying formats need to be in order to ensure sustainability and address different target groups effectively.

In this context, depth does not refer to the intensive training of desired skills and behaviours, but to working on underlying levels that often first need to be brought into employees’ conscious awareness. Only then can these aspects become visible and open to constructive dialogue and negotiation.

  • Needs assessment

  • Create a shared vision

  • Perform a cultural analysis

  • Intercultural adaptation & implementation

Yes, we provide fully tailored training. Together with the client, we identify the relevant topics and competencies, and we design customised content with flexible formats and practical, application‑oriented methods.

Intercultural competence and digital competence are closely linked today because global collaboration increasingly takes place in digital environments. Here are the key connections:
  • Digital communication is often intercultural.
  • Digital tools require cultural sensitivity.
  • Remote work intensifies cultural differences.
  • Digital competence is not only about technical skills, but also about recognising these differences and responding respectfully.
  • Intercultural competence is an essential part of digital professionalism.

The length of a seminar depends largely on the learning objectives, the complexity of the topic and the level of transfer desired. In many cases, two days are a very good choice – and there are clear reasons for this:

  • Depth instead of surface‑level knowledge: Two days make it possible not only to convey content, but also to practise and reflect on it.
  • Practical orientation and transfer: From a learning‑psychological perspective, it is essential that participants apply what they have learned. With two days, exercises, case studies and discussions can be integrated to ensure effective transfer into everyday work.
  • Time for interaction and questions.
  • Sustainable learning outcomes.

The difference between intercultural coaching and traditional coaching lies mainly in the focus and the competences that are developed.

  • Traditional coaching focuses on personal development, leadership skills, career goals or resolving individual challenges – usually within a familiar cultural framework.
  • Intercultural coaching, however, goes further by taking into account the dynamics between different cultures. It supports individuals in acting successfully in international or culturally diverse contexts.
It also addresses additional topics such as culturally influenced differences in behaviour, managing cultural misunderstandings, adapting leadership styles to different cultures, and developing intercultural sensitivity and empathy.
