Intercultural Competence – Coaching

Our service offering includes tailored consulting, mentoring & coaching, and business development for entrepreneurs and start‑ups who are beginning or advancing their internationalisation process.

What is intercultural competence?

For us, one thing is clear: intercultural competence begins with emotional intelligence – and both can be trained. Cultural differences are not an obstacle but a potential that can be consciously leveraged.

Intercultural competence comprises three essential elements: cognitive understanding, emotional empathy and effective behaviour. Knowledge alone is not enough – real competence emerges through continuous reflection and intentional action.

Our mission is to turn diversity into a driver of innovation and better collaboration – with mind, heart and attitude.

What is Coaching?

Coaching examines behavioural patterns and identifies the underlying causes of challenges. It enhances the client’s self‑awareness, fosters self‑reliance and strengthens individual personal resources.

This is how coaching at ilvy is structured:
When you and your team come to us, we begin by defining your coaching objective, as this forms the essential basis for a productive working relationship. It may sound unusual, but it is entirely logical: only once the goal and the people involved are clearly understood can we determine the most appropriate and individual pathway for you.

  • Clarifying the situation, the role and the framework

  • Analyse intercultural challenges

  • Develop competences

  • Ensure lasting insights

Time and space for growth – coaching at ilvy

At ilvy, it is of particular importance to us to accompany your individual process with trust and care. We do so by giving you time for reflection and creating a space in which you can explore freely, enabling you to move forward into the future with confidence from a place of stability.

Through targeted exercises and structured questioning cycles, we bring underlying attitudes and perspectives to the surface, allowing us to strengthen your individual capacity for effective action.
Every organisation has its own distinct culture, which is why there is no universal right or wrong—only what works best within your unique context.

The time we invest in this process enhances the quality and sustainability of the coaching – which is quite self‑evident: raising awareness of cultural differences cannot be achieved “on the side”; it requires dedicated time and space.

Intercultural competence coaching: key information

We offer intercultural competence coaching in German, English and Spanish.

In general, it is not possible to determine in advance how many coaching sessions will be appropriate.

For smaller topics or clearly defined goals, 1–3 sessions may be sufficient; for more complex issues, approximately 5–10 sessions are typically recommended.
